INTRODUCTION AND DETAILED DEVELOPMENT COURSE IN INSTALLATION AND RENOVATION OF UNDERGROUND NETWORKS BY Trenchless.

INTRODUCTION

TRENCHLESS methods of installation new pipelines underground or rehabilitation of existing networks, is beind done for several decades. There are countless methods, for the most diverse conditions and situations. In Brazil some technologies have been applied for many years, we can say that since the 80s, and although a long time being done, traditional guidelines and best practices are not applied, or even the advances on new technologies are used. However, the new Sanitation Regulatory Law has passed, a huge expansion of new pipelines for raw water production and drinking water distribution, as well as an expansion, perhaps even bigger due to the current lack of SES Sanitary Sewage will be buried. Both will occur in urbanized centers, or densely urbanized, in a very busy underground and poorly organized, by a huge amounts of existing pipes for all public services.

The ever-expanding traffic due to the car industry, never followed by the required infrastructure, has brought municipal managers the challenge of intervening in the streets, avenues and road systems in general. Digging trenches becomes something unthinkable from the conception of a project, and when it passes this stage, it ends up dying in the technical and financial viability stage. Building new networks or renovating old networks in the new Framework imposes bold hiring programs and ends up implying the definitive outsourcing of the management of the work. There are already bids in which the owner of the network contracts the detailed basic designt, all the documentation for bidding and contracting, and completes it with technical assistance during the execution. The class brings an update on the topic, demonstrates experiences, lessons learned, challenges and, more than that, teaches best practices for designing, contracting, and managing works that use TRENCHLESS.

PURPOSE

Even if you have some idea, there are so many methods and an extensive list of the best guidelines, that the purpose of the Class is not to be boring for those who already know, and also not to be incomprehensible for those who have never seen it, is to take you in the first case revisit concepts and expand with updates and news, and for the second case, a step by step for you to expand your arguments, and look for new alternatives for the works in which you are involved. As we have already mentioned in other ClassMenus , even late, there are already clear signs that soon, both the Academy (Universities) as well as the sectors that explore Water & Sewer Works Concessions, public (States and Municipalities), private (now with great responsibility to provide funds to meet the 700 billion reais needed for the Universalization of these services), will focus on science and the best viable level of engineering, in other words, the CLASS aims to welcome the entire public in these segments (Pipeline Owners, Designers, SUE Service Providers, Contractors, Managers) to understand the importance and know the details that integrate the best practices of the TRENCHLESS. The objective of this class is to give the participant the best basic notions and na in depth notion of the TRENCHLESS METHODS increasing their technical repertoire and directing the link between ideas and practical use.

METHODOLOGY

It is important to note that TRENCHLESS METHODS are mostly performed by instruments outside the operator's view. Making you aware of the challenges you will face for your judgment is the first thing that METHODOLOGY uses, with extensive demonstration by images and graphic animations, since it is not possible to show on live what is happening down there. A second annual program offers you participation in a field day at our Training Center, where you materialize what you have learned in images. Dynamics of interaction with the daily problems you´ve at the jobsite with the other participants, expands this understanding and realization. As we have already disclosed, the Class considers that from the first moment you, as the operation manager, a concessionaire, or designer, even a manager or inspector, will have access to a quality and quantity of information, enough for a good management and understanding, from conception , passing through the technical feasibility, with our management and inspection, in the jobs that you will receive to perform your responsibilities. The Class aims to help you from conception to final delivery and more, the performance of the project you are conceiving, or participating or executing, validating the bidding and contracting terms. The class revisits the concept of “design”, proposing a reflection from the preliminary design phase to its final delivery, passing through the conception, technical feasibility, definition of methods, costs and delivery deadlines.

YOU WILL LEARN

• A historical approach of TRENCHLESS over the years, and a direct relationship with the engineering early stages. Very interesting to include it daily, from the efforts, often done for years to solve countless problems in the installation of public services underground.
• Also, a review of all the best guidelines published and made available by Associations, Universities, among others, fundamental for the introduction to the concepts of Detailed Basic Design, Executive Design, and all Brazilian legislation on the subject.
• With this, it will be easy for the participant to judge the job in which he is involved, either as the owner of the network, or even as a designer, but also as an execution manager.
• The Experience of Brazilian Designers

•PI Assessment – Predictability Index of the work you are managing or supervising, to define the probability to reach time and cost contracted.

• The exact notion of FMEA FAILURE MODE and EFFECT ANALYSIS and its CONSEQUENCES, when dealing with different methods of constructing underground pipeline or rehabilitanting existing ones.

• The exact evaluation of the planning for inspection, and the actions to collaborate with this activity, focusing on productivity and mainly QAC, Quality Assurance and Control.

*Methods of Construction and Rehabilitation by TRENCHLESS.

In this topic you will have the exact dimension of your responsibility, without necessarily having to become an absolute expert in trenchless (remember your function can be to manage, not execute, or even design, therefore, how to evaluate what is common to all TRENCHLESS methods)

Prof.Eng.Sérgio Palazzo

Experience:
Engineer Sérgio Palazzo is a Mechanical Engineer P.E. who explored in the early years of his professional career the application of technologies and machines dedicated to the infrastructure sector. Later, he expanded his training with Postgraduate Courses in Business Administration at Harvard Business University, and Production Management at the Federal University of São Carlos – UFSCar. He recently added to his curriculum a postgraduate training in Basic and Environmental Sanitation Engineering from UNIP-INBEC. For more than three decades he has been linked to the global trenchless sector, being part of the Executive Subcommitte of the International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT) for seven years, the key Association for Trenchless Methods. He traveled across five continents, experiencing and accessing the lessons learned by more than 20 countries, and attended numerous classes abroad to complement and update his knowledge. He translated several works into Portuguese with the aim of filling this Brazilian gap in the infrastructure sector, adding to Brazilian authors the complementarity of the TRENCHLESSfor the sectors, infrastructure and public services. He teaches several courses in the field of trenchless, has trained more than 5000 technicians and engineers, in addition to having exercised the direct execution of most of the methods that focus on his training. He is responsible for the Consulting Engineering of the sector, providing services to designers, concessionaires, contractors and construction managers.

Workload:
32 (thirty-two) hours, divided into 8 (eight) blocks of 4 (four hours) each, with group dynamics to practice and solve exercises related to inspection, and analysis of real works.
