CLASSES ON SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT OF UNDERGROUND NETWORKS BY TRENCHLESS (IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW NETWORKS AND RENEWAL OF EXISTING ONES).

Estação de tratamento de água em um final de tarde.

INTRODUCTION

The new Sanitation Regulatory in Brazil will imply a HUGE expansion of raw water production and potable water distribution, as well as an expansion, perhaps even bigger due to the current need of SES Sanitary Sewage Systems.
Both will occur in urbanized centers, or densely urbanized, with the undergound full of existing services and pipelines and poorly organized, by immense amounts of these public services. The traffic is always expanding due to the car industry, never reached by the supply of infrastructure, has brought municipal managers the challenge of intervening in the streets, avenues and road systems in general.

Opening TRENCHES becomes something unthinkable from the conception of a project, and when it passes this stage, it ends up in the technical and financial feasibility stage and difficulties. Building new networks or renovating old networks in the new boundary imposes bold hiring programs and ends up implying the definitive outsourcing of work management There are already bids where the network owner contracts the detailed basic project, all the documentation for bidding and contracting (Design and Build), and completes it with technical assistance for the job. The classes brings an update on the topic, demonstrates experiences, lessons learned, challenges and, more than that, teaches best practices for project, contracting, and managing works that use TRENCHLESS.

PURPOSE

Even late, there are already clear signs that soon, both the Academy (Universities) as well the sectors that explore Sanitation concessions, public (States and Municipalities), private (now with great responsibility for providing funds to meet the 700 billion reais (150 billion dollars) necessary for the Universalization of these services), will focus on science and the best viable level of engineering, in other words, the CLASS aims to welcome the entire public in these segments (Network Owners, Designers, Information Survey Service Providers, Contractors, Managers) to understand the importance and know the details that integrate the TRENCHLESS best practices . The objective of this class is to give the participant the best basic notions and a certain deepening in the TRENCHLESS, increasing their technical knowledge and directing the link between ideas and practical use.

METHODOLOGY

The classes take into consideration, that from the first moment you, manager or supervisor, may have a quality and quantity of information insufficient for a good management and inspection, in the projects you will receive to comply your occupation. This is perhaps is the crucial point of the program, because even so, you will have to supervise and/or manage the work. The Class is to help you. But you can also fall under any of the other entities that will go from conception to final delivery and more, the performance of the project that you conceived, followed the bidding and contracting, and is now available to the executor. That way, this course reviews the concept of "project", proposing a reflection from the preliminary project phase to its final delivery, passing through the conception, technical viability, methods definition, costs and delivery deadlines.

YOU WILL LEARN

* Project evaluation and documentation received for the inspection.

• The Experience of Brazilian Designers
• IP Assessment – Predictability Index of the work you are managing or supervising, to finish within the promised and contracted time and price.
• The exact notion of FAILURE MODE and its CONSEQUENCES, when dealing with different methods of building underground networks or renovating existing networks.
• The exact evaluation of the planning of your inspector, and the actions to collaborate with this activity, focusing on productivity and mainly QAC, Quality Assurance and Control.

* Methods of Construction on new pipelines e rehabilitation of existing pipelines by TRENCHLESS.

In this topic you will have the exact dimension of your responsibility, without necessarily having to become an absolute expert in TRENCHLESS (remember your function is to manage, not execute, therefore, how to evaluate what is common to all TRENCHLESS methods).

• Surface and Subsurface Research
• Geotechnical Research starting with Geophysical Tools
• Locating pipelines underground
• Horizontal Drilling and its variables and challenges involving:
• Drilling Fluids
• Geotechnics, Geophysics and Soil Mechanics
• Drilling Plan
• As Built
• The Challenge of Building Sewage Networks with HDD, by gravity
• Pipe Jacking, Microtunnel, Pilot Tube

Prof.Eng.Sérgio Palazzo

Experience:
Engineer Sérgio Palazzo is a Mechanical Engineer P.E. who explored in the early years of his professional career the application of technologies and machines dedicated to the infrastructure sector. Later, he expanded his training with Postgraduate Courses in Business Administration at Harvard Business University, and Production Management at the Federal University of São Carlos – UFSCar. He recently added to his curriculum a postgraduate training in Basic and Environmental Sanitation Engineering from UNIP-INBEC. For more than three decades he has been linked to the global trenchless sector, being part of the Executive Subcommitte of the International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT) for seven years, the key Association for Trenchless Methods. He traveled across five continents, experiencing and accessing the lessons learned by more than 20 countries, and attended numerous classes abroad to complement and update his knowledge. He translated several works into Portuguese with the aim of filling this Brazilian gap in the infrastructure sector, adding to Brazilian authors the complementarity of the TRENCHLESSfor the sectors, infrastructure and public services. He teaches several courses in the field of trenchless, has trained more than 5000 technicians and engineers, in addition to having exercised the direct execution of most of the methods that focus on his training. He is responsible for the Consulting Engineering of the sector, providing services to designers, concessionaires, contractors and construction managers.

Workload:
32 (thirty-two) hours, divided into 8 (eight) blocks of 4 (four hours) each, with group dynamics to practice and solve exercises related to inspection, and analysis of real works.
